200-Hour Registered Yoga Alliance
Certification Program
Instruction in the Iyengar Tradition

Teacher
Training at The Yoga Room of Long Island is primarily rooted in the Iyengar
tradition, following the techniques of B.K.S. Iyengar,
who is world renowned for his precision in detailed
direction and integration of body, mind and spirit.
The Yoga
Room School of Long Island Yoga Teacher Certification
program is
a seven-month course, commencing Tuesday, October 1,
2008.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Lucia Tucci DiPalo, E-RYT, Director of the
2008-2009 Yoga Teacher Certification Program, is a certified Yoga
Teacher dedicated to the practice of Iyengar Yoga since
1978. She has been teaching in that tradition since 1991
Lucia teaches with gentleness yet firmness, integrating
the release of muscles with postural alignment. She is a
member of the B.K.S. Iyengar Yoga Association of Greater
NY, California Teachers Association, New York Yoga
Teachers Association and an active member and former
president of the LI Yoga Association. Lucia has been the
director of The Yoga Room since 1997.
Christine Cirelli, RYT-500, a 2006 graduate of The
Yoga Room School of Long Island, will be closely
assisting in the upcoming program. Christine is also the
Director of her own studio at the East Patchogue
location.

Most of the required workshops and some of the clinics
will be held at the East Patchogue location, formerly
The Yoga Room; selected clinics and workshops will be
held in the Massapequa Park location. In addition, selected professional Yoga teachers will be
facilitating specialty workshops which will be required
with the program at a specified fee. These workshops
will be indicated by
two asterisks (**).

MISSION STATEMENT

To Provide experienced and professional teachers and
teaching.
Exposure to and a comprehensive study of the Sutras of
Pantanjali.
To offer insights of how to use Yoga in your daily life,
using the Yamas and the Niyamas as a guideline.
To provide multi-dimensional education and offer classes
in all aspects of Yoga for ongoing progression.
Create an environment of safety presented in a nurturing
atmosphere.
Build a community of sharing with like-minded people.


ASPIRING YOGA TEACHERS

Dedicated students of Yoga with a Yoga practice of at
least two years with a Yoga
instructor; with a passion and respect for its
disciplines and philosophy; and with a strong desire to
teach and share this knowledge may apply.
EARNEST STUDENTS

If your primary goal is to improve your skills and
deepen your Yoga practice, you may register for the
training without certification.

CRITERIA

It is recommended you have two plus years of Yoga
experience with an instructor, prior to beginning this
training.
Clinics will be held on scheduled Tuesday and/or Friday
evenings from 5-9pm, scheduled
Saturdays from 12-5pm, and scheduled Sundays from
11am-4pm [or within that time frame].
Note: Scheduled clinics are periodic and not each week
and times may vary within time stated.
Attendance at two weekly classes required at current
rate.
The Yoga Room School of Long Island sponsored workshops
(indicated with two asterisks **) are part of the
required coursework.



200 HOUR R.Y.A. CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

This program is open to aspiring Yoga
teachers and earnest Yoga students if your desire is to:

Techniques in Asana and Pranayama
Techniques in kryias* (purification techniques),
chanting* and meditation
Philosophy, Ethics - Yoga Sutras*, Bhagavad Gita*
Kriya Yoga (Tapas, Svadhyaya, Isvara pranidhana)
Anatomy and Physiology*
Ayurveda*
Fundamentals of posture and alignment
Proper execution of basic poses
Verbalizing poses effectively
Observing and correcting poses
Use of props
*workshop fee required



REGISTRATION

An application will be mailed to you upon request. After
your completed application has been reviewed, you will
be notified of your eligibility for the program. At that
time, you will be asked to meet at a mutually convenient
time for a personal interview.
Clinics and classes are held during a wide range
of times, making this program attainable, even to those
that lead a busy lifestyle.
We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2008.

CERTIFICATE

A certificate of completion will be issued to students
who have successfully completed the program requirements
at The Yoga Room School of Long Island. With completion
of the program, graduates may register with Yoga
Alliance.
Please note this is not an Iyengar Yoga Certification which requires
special examination and a history of teaching Iyengar
Yoga without mixing other styles. However, our graduates
may be encouraged to pursue this endeavor.
